Spring on the Farm

Some days, it pays to get away from the city. Yesterday we did just that, driving up to the family farm, planting the San Marzano tomato seedlings that have been growing on our balcony, and generally getting some fresh air before the start of the week.

Spring is a particularly beautiful time up there, the fruit trees and peonies blooming against a mountainous backdrop. Our veggie patch is going strong, if not out of control. Zucchini is popping up, and we’ll have bell peppers, cucumbers and sweet peas (plus the tomatoes) for summer.

Here’s a peek into our escape to the country.

How did you spend your weekend?

One day I’d love to have my very own veggie garden, too. I’m happy for you that you had a great and relaxing weekend just before the new week started. :)

Fingers crossed they all grow in abundance. That said, not too abundant. We all know what happened when we planted kale… extreme overload.

Thanks, Alicia. I can’t claim the artichoke handiwork as my own – my mum-in-law grew them. But they are amazing, aren’t they.
