Hi, I’m Yasmeen. I’m an Arab-American writer and cooking enthusiast based in Melbourne, Australia.
I learned to cook while perched on a dining chair next to my mother. My very important jobs included kneading dough and toasting pine nuts. I still do those things.
Jase is my husband; we met while living in Amsterdam. In 2010, we shipped ourselves to his home of Melbourne, Australia “for a year.” Five years later, it’s our home.
Wandering Spice is my recipe and story journal, bringing together food from my Arab roots with inspiration from my travels and life in Australia. My philosophy is that the best cooking is simple and aromatic, and that no matter what, there’s always room for Seedo’s knafeh.
When I’m not writing here, I’m managing projects at Small Giants, Australia’s first B Corporation and big time advocate of creating a better world through good business.
All recipes published on Wandering Spice are made by me and photographed on our hefty wooden dining table, with minimal editing. Everything is devoured, little to nothing is wasted. If you would like to use a recipe, story or photograph from this site, please contact me first.
